Description: Manages Cisco Small Business Find-It neighbor device discovery for network topology visualization.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCOSB-FINDIT?

CISCOSB-FINDIT is a Cisco Small Business private MIB supporting the FindIT network discovery agent, which discovers and reports neighboring Cisco SMB devices to build a topology view for a central FindIT Network Manager. It exposes objects for the agent's operational state, discovered neighbor table entries, and the manager connection settings (address, port, credentials). Its monitoring value centers on software/service status—whether the FindIT agent process is enabled and running, plus configuration/fault visibility into whether it can reach its manager, rather than hardware metrics. It depends on network reachability to a FindIT Network Manager application and Cisco's proprietary discovery protocol rather than IETF standards. It is deployed across small-business networks of Cisco switches/routers/access points that are centrally managed via the Cisco FindIT Network Manager tool. Engineers can download the CISCOSB-FINDIT file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOSB-FINDIT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco Small Business switch, router, or access point

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would check rlFinditState and rlFinditOperState to confirm the FindIT discovery agent is administratively enabled and operationally running, then inspect rlFinditTable/rlFinditTableEntry to see discovered neighboring devices and their organization/network grouping via rlFinditOrganization and rlFinditNetwork. If rlFinditInetAddress or rlFinditManagerPort is misconfigured, the device would fail to register with the central FindIT manager, which would show up as a stale or empty discovery table.

What Can Be Monitored

  • FindIT agent admin/operational state
  • discovered neighbor devices
  • FindIT manager address and port
  • organization/network grouping
  • agent software version
