What Is CIRCUIT-MIB?

CIRCUIT-MIB is a Coriolis Networks private MIB for transport channels ('circuits') on optical/lambda transport equipment, covering both circuit provisioning state and network-wide load-balancing behavior. Global tuning objects (circuitLoadBalanceInterval, circuitLoadBalanceNumPerInterval, circuitEventInterval, circuitEventNumPerInterval) control how often the system re-examines circuit placement across rings and how frequently circuit events are generated, while circuitOldIpAddrToSwap/circuitNewIpAddrToSwap support chassis IP address migration. The core circuitTable, indexed by source IP address/interface/connection ID, holds per-circuit administrative and operational state (circuitAdminState, circuitOperState, circuitTimeSinceStatusChange), forwarding/traffic-descriptor parameters for both directions (circuitFwdTDType/Param1-4, circuitBwdTDType/Param1-4), redundancy and priority settings (circuitIsRedundancyReqd, circuitSetupPriority, circuitHoldPriority), preferred optical slot/port/vport endpoints, and failure-location detail (circuitFailLocIpAddr, circuitFailLocSlot1/Port1, circuitFailLocSlot2/Port2). It is deployed on Coriolis optical transport chassis managing lambda/circuit-switched paths across a ring-based network, as documented in the CIRCUIT-MIB MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CIRCUIT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls circuitOperState and circuitAdminState for a circuit in circuitTable to confirm it is active and administratively enabled, checking circuitFailLocIpAddr/circuitFailLocSlot1/circuitFailLocPort1 when operState reports a failure; a circuit stuck in a down operState with a populated failure-location slot/port would pinpoint which chassis and port caused the outage, useful for dispatching field repair.
