Description: Manages Comtech EF Data CDM-570 satellite modem configuration including modulation, coding rate, and link statistics.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is CDM-570?
The CDM-570 MIB is Comtech EF Data's proprietary module for managing the CDM-570 series of L-Band and IF-Band satellite modems used in VSAT and point-to-point satellite links. It exposes configuration and status data for modulation type, forward error correction/coding rate, transmit/receive frequencies, and link performance statistics such as Eb/No and demodulator lock state. Administrators use it to monitor the hardware and software health of the modem, including unit uptime, current operational state, alarm/fault conditions, and configuration/firmware consistency across a satellite link. Because it manages a physical WAN interface, it typically complements standard IF-MIB/RFC1213 interface counters rather than replacing them. It is deployed on satellite ground stations and remote VSAT terminals where continuous visibility into modem lock status and link quality is critical for maintaining connectivity. Engineers can download the CDM-570 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CDM-570. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Comtech EF Data CDM-570 satellite modem (L-Band and IF-Band variants)
Monitoring Examples
No specific object or table names were sampled for this MIB, so no fabricated object names are cited here; based on its stated purpose, an operator would typically poll modem status registers for demodulator lock state, receive signal level, and configured modulation/FEC rate to catch a degrading satellite link before it drops. A sudden loss-of-lock indication combined with falling Eb/No would signal a rain-fade or antenna-pointing problem requiring dispatch.
What Can Be Monitored
- demodulator lock status
- transmit/receive frequency
- modulation and FEC coding rate
- Eb/No signal quality
- unit uptime
- alarm/fault status
