Description: Manages IEEE 802.3ah OAM link fault management, loopback control, and remote failure indication on Paradyne devices.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is PDN-LINK-FAULT-MGMT-MIB?
PDN-LINK-FAULT-MGMT-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB implementing IEEE 802.3ah-style Ethernet OAM link fault management for primary/secondary link pairs with APS-style automatic protection switching. It exposes link-failure detection timers and thresholds (loss-of-signal, loss-of-frame, AIS-L, signal-degrade/signal-fail BER) along with switchover-selection configuration. Its monitoring purpose is physical-layer link/hardware fault detection: it tracks how long a LOS or LOF condition must persist before triggering a switch, and BER thresholds that determine when a link is considered degraded, giving a direct view into link health and automatic-protection behavior. It is explicitly modeled on IEEE 802.3ah Ethernet OAM link fault management concepts. It is deployed on Paradyne access/transport equipment with dual primary/secondary links requiring automatic protection switching, such as carrier access rings. Engineers can download the PDN-LINK-FAULT-MGMT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-LINK-FAULT-MGMT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Paradyne access/transport equipment with protected primary/secondary links
Monitoring Examples
pdnLinkFailureConfigTable/pdnLinkFailureConfigEntry exposes pdnLinkFailureLOSPeriodBeforeSwitching, pdnLinkFailureLOFPeriodBeforeSwitching, pdnLinkFailureSdBerThreshold, and pdnLinkFailureSfBerThreshold. An operator would compare these thresholds against actual link error rates to confirm that a link degrading past pdnLinkFailureSfBerThreshold correctly triggers a switch to the secondary link, and check pdnLinkFaultMgmtApsSelection/pdnLinkFaultMgmtSwitchoverSelection to verify the configured switching mode for the chassis.
What Can Be Monitored
- loss-of-signal (LOS) detection timing
- loss-of-frame (LOF) detection timing
- signal degrade/fail BER thresholds
- APS/switchover selection mode
- AIS-L period before switching
