Category: Products/Registration

Description: Defines the enterprise OID root and shared header objects for all Paradyne Networks MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-HEADER-MIB?

PDN-HEADER-MIB is the shared root/header module for Paradyne Networks (a maker of DSL and WAN access equipment, later part of Zhone/CommScope) MIB modules, defining the enterprise OID hierarchy (pdyn, pdn-products, pdn-mgmt) under which all other Paradyne MIBs register. It contains no runtime data objects itself, only OID branch definitions for product lines like the NMS-6700 and NMS-DCE series. Opening this file in a PDN-HEADER-MIB MIB Browser session mostly reveals empty branch nodes, since the actual management objects live in the dependent Paradyne product MIBs. It therefore plays no direct role in exposing hardware or software status; that is left to the product-specific MIBs that hang off this header's OID tree. It depends on the standard SNMPv2-SMI enterprise numbering scheme. It's typically deployed as a supporting module alongside Paradyne/Zhone DSL and access multiplexer product MIBs.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-HEADER-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne/Zhone DSL access and network management equipment

Monitoring Examples

This module defines only OID subtree stubs (pdyn, pdn-products, pdn-mgmt, paradyneNMS-products, nms-6700-products, nms-dce-products) with no scalars or tables, so there's no direct polling scenario; it simply provides the registered parent OIDs that Paradyne's product-specific MIBs for the NMS-6700/DCE lines use to expose their own management data.
