Description: Manages DS3/T3 physical layer configuration, performance, and alarm reporting on Redstone routers.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is REDSTONE-DS3-MIB?
REDSTONE-DS3-MIB manages DS3/T3 physical-layer interface configuration, performance statistics, and alarm reporting on Redstone Communications routers, used where DS3/T3 circuits serve as WAN or backhaul links. It exposes configuration objects such as line length, line type, and cell scrambling settings for each DS3 interface, organized in a standard config table/entry structure. Its monitoring role is centered on physical-layer hardware/link status, confirming DS3 line configuration matches the carrier circuit's requirements and watching for alarm conditions that indicate a physical layer or framing fault on the DS3 link. It is a Redstone-proprietary MIB that parallels but does not directly extend the IETF DS3/E3 MIB conventions for DS3 interface management. It is typically deployed by network operators using Redstone routers with DS3/T3 WAN interfaces for high-capacity trunk connectivity. Engineers can download the REDSTONE-DS3-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in REDSTONE-DS3-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Redstone Communications router (DS3/T3 WAN interface)
Monitoring Examples
An operator would inspect rows of rsDsx3ConfigTable/rsDsx3ConfigEntry to confirm rsDsx3LineLength and rsDsx3LineType are set correctly for a given DS3 circuit, since a mismatch with the carrier's provisioning would cause line errors or the interface failing to synchronize. Monitoring rsDsx3CellScramblerConfig helps verify ATM cell scrambling settings align with the far-end equipment when DS3 carries ATM traffic. Persistent alarms surfaced under rsDs3Objects would indicate a physical-layer fault such as loss of signal or frame on the DS3 link.
What Can Be Monitored
- DS3 line configuration (length/type)
- cell scrambling configuration
- DS3 alarm/fault status
- physical layer synchronization
