Description: ADVA Optical Networking F3 platform MIB for IEEE 802.1ag Connectivity Fault Management OAM operations on FSP 150 devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is F3-CFM-MIB?

F3-CFM-MIB is an ADVA Optical Networking MIB that extends IEEE 802.1ag / ITU-T Y.1731 Connectivity Fault Management (CFM) for the FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet product line. It exposes Maintenance Endpoint (MEP) configuration and state, synthetic loss measurement (SLM) and synthetic loss reply (SLR) parameters, and Alarm Indication Signal (AIS) trigger and interval settings used for OAM-based fault detection across Ethernet service networks. Its core purpose is fault/status monitoring of the Ethernet OAM software layer — the administrative and operational state of each MEP (cfmMepAdminState), whether AIS generation has been triggered and at what client maintenance level, and signal-fail trigger conditions — which reveal service-affecting connectivity faults before they impact traffic more broadly. This module is an ADVA-specific extension of the standard IEEE 802.1ag CFM model and interoperates with the base CFM MIB conventions defined by that standard. It is deployed on FSP150 edge/aggregation nodes providing carrier Ethernet OAM for service assurance. Engineers can download the F3-CFM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in F3-CFM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADVA FSP150CM/CC carrier Ethernet devices

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll cfmMepTable/cfmMepEntry for a given MEP's cfmMepAdminState to confirm the maintenance endpoint is enabled, and watch cfmMepAisGenTriggerTypes and cfmSignalFailTriggers to see whether the device has started generating AIS due to an underlying signal-fail condition. Checking cfmMepAisClientMdLevel and cfmMepAisInterval verifies AIS is being sent at the correct maintenance domain level and interval per the service configuration. An unexpected AIS trigger combined with an active signal-fail condition on a MEP would indicate a connectivity fault in the monitored Ethernet path that needs escalation.

What Can Be Monitored

  • MEP administrative/operational state
  • AIS trigger status and interval
  • signal-fail trigger conditions
  • synthetic loss measurement parameters
