What Is DPS-MIB-V38-V2EXT?

DPS-MIB-V38-V2EXT is a second-generation SNMPv2 enterprise MIB from DPS Telecom, extending the V38 series remote telemetry/alarm monitoring units with additional alarm and control objects. It exposes device identity information (manufacturer, model, software version) alongside a dedicated alarm table that tracks each monitored alarm point's site, description, current state, severity, and the date/time it last changed. Its central purpose is fault and status monitoring: the tmonV2AlarmTable lets an operator see at a glance which alarm inputs are active, how severe they are, and when they last transitioned, while tmonV2IdentSoftwareVersion supports tracking the unit's firmware level across a fleet of remote sites. As a self-contained DPS Telecom product MIB it has no significant dependency on external standard MIBs, defining its own identity and alarm textual conventions under the tmonV2/dpsInc branches. It is typically deployed on DPS Telecom V38 remote telemetry units installed at unmanned sites such as cell towers, headends, or utility substations, where DPS-MIB-V38-V2EXT SNMP monitoring provides centralized alarm visibility.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DPS-MIB-V38-V2EXT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm state per monitored point
  • alarm severity
  • alarm site and description
  • alarm last-change date/time
  • device manufacturer/model/software version

Supported Devices

  • DPS Telecom V38 series remote telemetry/alarm monitoring units

Monitoring Examples

An operator monitoring a remote cell site would walk tmonV2AlarmTable, keying on tmonV2AIndex, to see each alarm's tmonV2ADesc, tmonV2AState, and tmonV2ASeverity -- for example, a door-open or generator-fail contact flipping from normal to active. The tmonV2AChgDate and tmonV2AChgTime fields let them correlate exactly when that transition occurred against other site events. Separately, polling tmonV2IdentSoftwareVersion across a fleet of units helps confirm all remote telemetry devices are running the expected firmware before a maintenance window.
