What Is CIENA-CES-RAPS-MIB?

CIENA-CES-RAPS-MIB is a Ciena enterprise MIB implementing ITU-T G.8032 Ring Automatic Protection Switching (RAPS) management on Ciena CES Carrier Ethernet switches, used to configure and monitor Ethernet ring protection topologies. It exposes objects describing ring state, protection switching behavior, and virtual ring flush propagation used to recover traffic after a ring link or node failure. Its monitoring emphasis is on software/protocol state of the ring protection mechanism, such as whether a ring is in a normal or protection-switched state and whether flush events are propagating correctly, which is critical to detecting and diagnosing ring topology faults. It is built directly on the ITU-T G.8032 Ethernet ring protection standard. It is deployed in Carrier Ethernet ring topologies where sub-50ms failover is required for resilient metro or access network transport. Engineers can download the CIENA-CES-RAPS-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
