This reports how many virtual rings, VLAN-based sub-instances, have been provisioned on top of this one physical logical ring. G.8032 supports multiple virtual rings sharing the same physical ring topology, often segmented by VLAN, so this count tells an admin how much of the ring's virtual-ring capacity is in use and whether there's room to add another service without touching the underlying physical ring configuration. For example, a logical ring supporting up to 16 virtual rings showing this value at 12 tells an admin there's room for 4 more VLAN-segmented services before the ring's virtual capacity is exhausted.
