Because this is a global switch above all individual logical and virtual ring entries, an admin seeing ring protection apparently not functioning on any ring should check this object first, since it can override every per-ring configuration at once. For example, if this reads disabled, none of the configured logical rings will run G.8032 protection switching even if each individual ring is fully provisioned and its own state objects look healthy.
