What Is WWP-LEOS-MULTICAST-FILTER-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-MULTICAST-FILTER-MIB is a vendor-specific Ciena (formerly World Wide Packets, WWP) MIB that manages multicast traffic filtering and IGMP snooping on LEOS/SAOS-based Ethernet access devices. It provides global controls (wwpLeosMcastConfigState to enable/disable multicast filtering, wwpLeosMcastSnoopState for global IGMP snooping, and stats-clear objects), a per-VLAN wwpLeosMcastFilterActivationTable tracking administrative and operational state plus row lifecycle, and a wwpLeosMcastFilterServerPortTable listing authorized ports allowed to act as trusted IGMP query sources. Later revisions added rapid-recovery mode and zero-source-IP general-query discard statistics for hardening IGMP snooping against malformed or spoofed traffic. Monitoring it helps operators confirm filtering/snooping is enabled where expected, that VLANs are correctly activated, and that only authorized server ports are trusted for IGMP queries — important for preventing unauthorized multicast injection or filter bypass. It's deployed on Ciena LEOS/SAOS access and aggregation switches, and administrators can download the WWP-LEOS-MULTICAST-FILTER-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser.

An operator polls wwpLeosMcastFilterActivationTable for a given wwpLeosMcastVlanId to compare wwpLeosMcastFilterAdminState against wwpLeosMcastFilterOperState; a VLAN administratively enabled but operationally showing disabled would indicate the multicast filter failed to activate, potentially allowing unfiltered multicast flooding on that VLAN.
