Description: Manages World Wide Packets LEOS SNMP community string definitions and management access security.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-LEOS-COMMUNITY-MIB?
This is a World Wide Packets (WWP) LEOS private enterprise MIB covering SNMP community-string configuration on WWP's LEOS-based Ethernet transport and access switches (a product line later acquired by Ciena). It exposes management-access configuration data — community name, access mode (read-only/read-write), and any associated access restrictions used to gate SNMP management of the device. It does not report hardware or software runtime health itself, but it directly governs whether an NMS can reach the counters, environmental sensors, and status tables of other LEOS MIBs on the box, so an administrator audits it to ensure monitoring access hasn't been locked out or left over-permissive. It relies on the classic SNMPv1/v2c community-based security model (RFC 3584) rather than SNMPv3 USM, and works alongside the broader family of WWP LEOS MIBs it gates access to. It is typically deployed on WWP LEOS Ethernet demarcation and aggregation switches in carrier Ethernet access networks. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-COMMUNITY-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-COMMUNITY-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- World Wide Packets LEOS Ethernet switch
Monitoring Examples
No sample_objects were provided for this module, so no specific table or object names can be cited; based on its description it manages a community-string table (name, access permission, and possibly source-address restriction) that controls SNMP read/write access to the device rather than exposing hardware or performance counters itself.
What Can Be Monitored
- configured SNMP community strings
- community access mode (read/write)
