What Is WWP-SMI?
WWP-SMI is the Structure of Management Information module for World Wide Packets (WWP), a metro Ethernet equipment vendor later acquired by Ciena, and it establishes the enterprise-level OID hierarchy under which all other WWP-specific MIBs register their object subtrees. It belongs to the network transport/carrier Ethernet equipment category rather than defining any monitorable data itself. As a pure SMI/registration module it exposes no interface counters, environmental sensors, or fault traps of its own, so it cannot be used to check hardware or software status directly. Every WWP product MIB that defines real management objects (chassis, interfaces, performance counters) depends on this module for its place in the OID tree, and anyone tracing a WWP-SMI OID back to its registration point will find only organizational nodes, not pollable data, at this level. It is deployed only as a compile-time dependency wherever WWP/Ciena metro Ethernet devices are managed via SNMP.

Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
This module has no sample runtime objects; it is a Structure of Management Information (SMI) module that only assigns the enterprise OID root and organizational nodes for World Wide Packets equipment. There is no realistic monitoring scenario to describe because it contains no polled data -- product-specific WWP MIBs built on top of this tree are what would be polled for chassis, interface, or alarm status. Honestly, this module is purely organizational.
