Category: Ciena LEOS Carrier Ethernet

Description: Manages Ciena LEOS Link Layer Discovery Protocol neighbor information and port-level advertisement settings.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is WWP-LEOS-LLDP-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-LLDP-MIB is a Ciena LEOS (formerly World Wide Packets) proprietary MIB implementing Link Layer Discovery Protocol configuration, statistics, and both local and remote system data on the device. It exposes configuration objects for global LLDP timers (message transmit interval, hold multiplier, reinitialization delay, transmit delay), per-port administrative settings and TLV transmit enable flags, and management address advertisement settings, alongside statistics and remote-neighbor data. Its monitoring value is in topology and neighbor-discovery health: confirming which ports have LLDP enabled and what neighbor information (remote system data) they have learned, which is useful for detecting unexpected cabling, rogue devices, or a neighbor that has stopped advertising. It closely parallels the standard LLDP-MIB (IEEE 802.1AB) structure but is implemented as a vendor-specific module rather than the IETF one. It is deployed on Ciena LEOS Metro Ethernet switches, where the WWP-LEOS-LLDP-MIB MIB enables automated neighbor and topology discovery.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-LLDP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ciena LEOS / World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet switch

Monitoring Examples

Concrete objects include wwpLeosLldpMessageTxInterval, wwpLeosLldpMessageTxHoldMultiplier, wwpLeosLldpReinitDelay, and wwpLeosLldpTxDelay for global timer configuration, and wwpLeosLldpPortConfigTable/wwpLeosLldpPortConfigEntry (with wwpLeosLldpPortConfigPortNum, wwpLeosLldpPortConfigAdminStatus, wwpLeosLldpPortConfigTLVsTxEnable) for per-port settings, plus wwpLeosLldpConfigManAddrTable for management address advertisement. An admin would poll wwpLeosLldpPortConfigAdminStatus per port to confirm LLDP is enabled where expected, and check remote-neighbor data (under wwpLeosLldpMIBObjects/wwpLeosLldpStatistics) to see whether an expected neighbor's advertisement has disappeared, indicating a link or neighbor device failure.

What Can Be Monitored

  • per-port LLDP admin status
  • LLDP TLV transmit enable settings
  • LLDP timer configuration (tx interval, hold multiplier, delays)
  • management address advertisement
  • remote neighbor system data
