Description: Manages Ciena LEOS SSH server configuration, host key management, and secure remote access settings.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is WWP-LEOS-SSH-MIB?
WWP-LEOS-SSH-MIB is a Ciena LEOS (formerly World Wide Packets) proprietary MIB defining managed objects for the device's SSH server, covering configuration such as host key management and secure remote access settings. It exposes primarily configuration and status data: SSH service enable state, host key information, and access parameters, rather than traffic or environmental counters. Its monitoring value is security/software-status oriented — confirming that the SSH service is running and correctly configured (e.g., host keys present and of the expected type) is important for verifying secure management access to the device remains available and has not been tampered with. It is built to manage the standard SSH protocol (SSH-2, RFC 4251 et seq.) though as a vendor-specific MIB rather than an IETF SSH MIB (no standard SSH MIB exists). It is deployed on Ciena LEOS Metro Ethernet devices where SSH is the management access method, in place of or alongside Telnet. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-SSH-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-SSH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Ciena LEOS / World Wide Packets Metro Ethernet device
Monitoring Examples
No sample object names were supplied; based on the description, the relevant objects would be an SSH service status object and a host key management table. An admin would poll the SSH service status to confirm the daemon is running and reachable, and check host key objects to verify the expected key fingerprint/type is in place, with an unexpected key change potentially indicating a security-relevant reconfiguration.
What Can Be Monitored
- SSH service enable/status
- host key configuration
- secure access parameter settings
