Category: Nokia SR OS / Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR, Optical Transport

Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR OES optical Ethernet service configuration and status.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-OES-MIB?

This Nokia proprietary MIB manages the Optical Extension Shelf (OES), a satellite/extension shelf unit attached to the 7750 SR SROS chassis, and covers its control-plane connectivity plus software lifecycle. It exposes objects for control-channel addressing and timeouts, the OES's running/staged software images, and administrative actions such as reboot and software upgrade. This is heavily a hardware/software-status MIB: tmnxOesStatus and tmnxOesCtlCommsStatus directly report whether the OES shelf and its control link are up, while tmnxOesRunningSwImage and tmnxOesSoftwareRepository track which firmware version is active or staged for upgrade -- key for confirming a satellite shelf has not silently gone offline or is running mismatched software. As a Nokia SROS extension it depends on the broader satellite/chassis management framework used across the Timetra suite. It's typically deployed where a 7750 SR chassis is extended with remote optical shelves to add port density without a full additional chassis. Engineers can download the TIMETRA-OES-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-OES-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia 7750 SR chassis with Optical Extension Shelf (OES)

Monitoring Examples

An admin polls tmnxOesStatus and tmnxOesCtlCommsStatus to verify an Optical Extension Shelf is reachable and healthy, and checks tmnxOesCtlCommsAddress/tmnxOesCtlCommsTimeout/tmnxOesCtlCommsRetryLimit when a shelf appears to be flapping its control channel. Comparing tmnxOesRunningSwImage against what's staged in tmnxOesSoftwareRepository shows whether a tmnxOesSwUpgrade operation completed successfully, and an unexpected tmnxOesReboot event combined with a status flip would alert an operator to an unplanned shelf restart.

What Can Be Monitored

  • OES shelf status
  • control-channel communication status
  • running software image version
  • software repository contents
  • reboot/upgrade events
