Category: Domain: Storage

Description: LSI Logic RAID IDE controller MIB providing SNMP objects for monitoring disk array status, drive health, and RAID configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LSIRAID-IDE-MIB?

This is an LSI Logic (later LSI/Avago) private enterprise MIB for managing IDE/ATA-based RAID controllers, part of the broader family of LSI MegaRAID management MIBs. It exposes agent identification data along with per-controller inventory objects describing the controller model, BIOS version, firmware/driver revision, and controller identifiers. Its core monitoring value is hardware health of the storage subsystem: BIOS and driver version tracking helps confirm firmware consistency across a server fleet, and controller identity/index objects allow an agent to enumerate every RAID card installed and correlate it with array and drive status reported elsewhere in the same MIB family. It is a self-contained vendor MIB with no dependency on standard IETF storage MIBs, functioning instead alongside LSI's own RAID/array/drive sub-MIBs. It is typically deployed on servers with LSI IDE RAID controllers where storage administrators need to verify controller firmware levels and detect configuration drift or controller failures. Engineers can download the LSIRAID-IDE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LSIRAID-IDE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • LSI Logic IDE RAID controller
  • server with LSI RAID storage adapter

Monitoring Examples

A monitoring script could walk contIndex/contControllerId across all installed adapters and cross-reference contModel and contBIOSVersion to flag any controller running an outdated BIOS relative to the fleet baseline. contDriverVersion combined with agentModuleVersion helps confirm the SNMP agent and OS driver are compatible after an OS patch. contRevision changes between polls can indicate an unexpected hardware swap or firmware flash on a production server.

What Can Be Monitored

  • RAID controller model and identity
  • controller BIOS version
  • controller driver version
  • controller firmware revision
  • SNMP agent module version
