Description: Provides Fibre Channel ping (Echo) diagnostic objects for connectivity testing on H3C FC network ports.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is HH3C-FC-PING-MIB?
HH3C-FC-PING-MIB is an H3C (Hangzhou Huawei-3Com/New H3C) vendor MIB for storage-area-network switching gear that exposes Fibre Channel ping (FC Echo) diagnostic controls. It models configuration data for initiating FC-layer connectivity tests, including target VSAN, destination FC address, packet count, payload size, timeout, and delay parameters, alongside the resulting statistics and administrative status of each test. Rather than continuous hardware telemetry, its monitoring value is operational: an administrator can trigger and read back FC ping results to verify that a fabric path between initiator and target is up, measure round-trip reachability, and detect FC connectivity faults or fabric misconfiguration before they affect storage traffic. It complements standard FC management MIBs and SNMP infrastructure rather than replacing them, since it only covers the ping/echo diagnostic function, not full FC fabric topology. It is typically deployed on H3C Fibre Channel or FCoE-capable switches in enterprise or data-center SAN environments where operators need SNMP-driven, on-demand fabric connectivity checks. Engineers can download the HH3C-FC-PING-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HH3C-FC-PING-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- H3C Fibre Channel/FCoE SAN switch
Monitoring Examples
An operator populates a row in hh3cFcPingTable (indexed by hh3cFcPingIndex) with hh3cFcPingVsan, hh3cFcPingAddressType and hh3cFcPingAddress identifying the target FC device, sets hh3cFcPingPacketCount and hh3cFcPingTimeout, then sets hh3cFcPingAdminStatus to start the test. Polling hh3cFcPingStatistics afterward reveals packet loss or excessive round-trip delay, indicating a degraded or broken inter-switch link or a misbehaving HBA in the fabric. Repeated failures across hh3cFcPingEntry rows targeting different VSANs can help isolate whether the problem is fabric-wide or limited to one virtual SAN.
What Can Be Monitored
- FC ping admin status
- FC ping packet count/loss
- FC ping round-trip delay
- target VSAN and FC address
- ping timeout and aging interval
