Description: Manages LAPB (Link Access Procedure Balanced) data link layer on CX Memotec WAN devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXLapBD-MIB?

CXLapBD-MIB is a vendor-specific Aastra/Memotec (CX) MIB that manages the LAPB (Link Access Procedure Balanced) data link layer used on CX WAN devices, a protocol commonly underlying X.25 and similar synchronous WAN links. It exposes buffering configuration (pool thresholds), diagnostic trace settings, software version information, a trap group, and multiple status tables covering MAC/DL SAPs, TEI assignment, and per-connection DLC status. For hardware/software status monitoring, lapbdSoftwareVersions supports firmware audits, lapbdStatusEvent and lapbdTraps surface link-layer fault events, and lapbdDlcStatusTable/lapbdTeiTable let an operator confirm data-link connections are established and stable rather than repeatedly resetting. It underlies higher-layer WAN protocol MIBs on the same CX platform (e.g., X.25 or ISDN-related modules) that ride on top of the LAPB link layer. It is typically deployed in Aastra CX WAN access routers/multiplexers carrying legacy X.25 or leased-line synchronous traffic. Engineers can download the CXLapBD-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXLapBD-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Aastra ConvertedX (CX) WAN access router/multiplexer

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll lapbdDlcStatusTable to confirm each data-link connection is in an established/normal state, and check lapbdTeiTable for correct TEI (Terminal Endpoint Identifier) assignment when a link fails to come up. lapbdStatusEvent combined with lapbdTraps would be used to catch link resets or protocol errors as they happen rather than only via periodic polling. lapbdLowerPoolThreshold and lapbdUpperPoolThreshold would be reviewed if buffer exhaustion is suspected as the cause of dropped frames, and lapbdSoftwareVersions checked to confirm the link-layer firmware version in use.

What Can Be Monitored

  • LAPB data-link connection status
  • TEI assignment
  • buffer pool threshold levels
  • link-layer status events/traps
  • software version
  • diagnostic trace configuration
