Category: Domain: WAN

Description: Base MIB for DL series devices providing core management objects for device status, configuration, and monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is DL-MIB?

DL-MIB is a vendor-specific base MIB for "DL series" devices, providing the foundational management objects used across that product line for identification, status, and basic configuration. It exposes general device-level data such as a site identifier and trap-related string objects, suggesting it underpins the vendor's alarm/notification framework as well as basic inventory data. Its role in monitoring centers on device identification and fault/alarm reporting, since fields like stockTrapString and trapTypeString indicate this MIB is a foundation for generating and classifying SNMP trap notifications about device conditions. Being a vendor "base" MIB, other product-specific MIBs from the same vendor likely import definitions from this module as a common root. It is typically deployed as the entry point loaded alongside other DL-series product MIBs in a network management system. Engineers can download the DL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in DL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • DL series managed devices (vendor-specific)

Monitoring Examples

Sample objects include siteID, stockTrapString, and trapTypeString, indicating this MIB carries a per-device site identifier alongside generic trap description text used when the device raises an alarm. An administrator would poll siteID to confirm which physical location a managed unit corresponds to, and would inspect incoming traps carrying trapTypeString/stockTrapString values to classify the nature of an alarm (e.g., a hardware fault or a threshold breach). A trap arriving with an unexpected trapTypeString would flag an unusual or previously uncatalogued fault condition on the device.

What Can Be Monitored

  • site identifier
  • trap type classification
  • trap description strings
  • general device alarm status
