What Is CXProduct-SMI?
CXProduct-SMI is the foundational Structure of Management Information module for the Memotec/Aastra CX product family, defining the top-level OID tree under which all other CX-specific MIBs (I/O hardware, SNA link conversion, Token Bus, X.25, IPX, and related modules) register their objects. It does not itself expose live operational data; instead it declares the product branches (cxMc600, cxPx600, cxChassis, cxSystem, cxApplication, cxViewing) that organize the vendor's device families and their management views. As a pure SMI/naming module it has no direct hardware or software status objects of its own, but it is essential plumbing that every other CX-family MIB in this monitoring suite depends on for consistent OID numbering. Every CX-specific MIB, such as CXIoHardware-MIB, CXSnaLinkConversionModule-MIB, CXTokenBus-MIB, CXX25-MIB, and CX-IPX-MIB, imports from and registers under this SMI definition. It is used implicitly whenever any CX Memotec/Aastra device MIB is loaded into an SNMP management platform, since the CXProduct-SMI file must be compiled first before those dependent modules can resolve their OIDs.

You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Monitoring Examples
An SNMP manager loading any CX-family MIB, for example CXIoHardware-MIB, must first compile CXProduct-SMI so that branches like cxChassis and cxSystem resolve correctly for objects such as cxIoCardAdmTable. The cxMc600 and cxPx600 branches distinguish object trees for different CX hardware platforms (the MC600 versus PX600 chassis families), so an operator managing mixed CX equipment needs to know which product branch a given device populates. Because this module defines no monitorable leaf objects itself, there is no polling scenario specific to CXProduct-SMI beyond ensuring successful MIB compilation before other CX MIBs can be used.
