What Is CTRON-SFPS-SFLSP-MIB?
CTRON-SFPS-SFLSP-MIB is a Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) MIB managing SFLSP (SecureFast Link State Protocol), the proprietary link-state routing protocol used to distribute topology information and maintain neighbor adjacencies across a SecureFast switch fabric. It exposes general protocol-state objects covering switch ID, admin status, protocol version, area/border-router role, LSA origination/reception counts, and link-state database queue depth (vlanSflspGeneralSwitchID, vlanSflspGeneralAdminStatus, vlanSflspGeneralAreaBRStatus, vlanSflspGeneralASBRStatus, vlanSflspGeneralOrgNewLSAs, vlanSflspGeneralRcvNewLSAs, vlanSflspGeneralMaxOnQueue, vlanSflspGeneralCurOnQueue). Its monitoring value is in the software health of the SFLSP routing process itself - whether it is administratively enabled, how many LSAs are being generated/received, and whether the link-state database processing queue is backing up (current vs. max queue) - which reveals topology-convergence problems or an overloaded routing process. Its design deliberately mirrors OSPF (area/ASBR concepts, LSAs), so it is conceptually dependent on OSPF-like link-state routing standards even though it's a proprietary protocol. It is deployed on Cabletron SecureFast switches to distribute Layer 2/3 topology information across a switched fabric, with the CTRON-SFPS-SFLSP-MIB MIB exposing that process for SNMP monitoring.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CTRON-SFPS-SFLSP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- Cabletron SecureFast Packet Switching (SFPS) switches
Monitoring Examples
An admin would poll vlanSflspGeneralAdminStatus and vlanSflspGeneralVersion to confirm SFLSP is enabled and running a consistent protocol version across switches, and check vlanSflspGeneralCurOnQueue against vlanSflspGeneralMaxOnQueue to detect a link-state database processing backlog signaling routing instability. vlanSflspGeneralOrgNewLSAs and vlanSflspGeneralRcvNewLSAs would be tracked over time to spot excessive LSA churn, often caused by a flapping link somewhere in the fabric. vlanSflspGeneralAreaBRStatus and vlanSflspGeneralASBRStatus reveal whether this switch is acting as an area or autonomous-system border router in the topology.
What Can Be Monitored
- SFLSP admin status
- LSA origination/reception rate
- link-state queue depth/backlog
- area/ASBR border router role
- protocol version
