Category: Hardware and Environment

Description: Establishes common management objects and enterprise OID registration for Advantech industrial networking equipment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADVANTECH-COMMON-MIB?

ADVANTECH-COMMON-MIB is Advantech's enterprise root/common MIB establishing the OID registration tree and shared definitions used across Advantech's industrial automation networking equipment. It primarily defines the organizational structure (system, management, PCI configuration branches) under which Advantech's product-specific MIBs register their objects, rather than exposing runtime monitoring data itself. As a common/root MIB it typically has no operational status objects of its own, though the product MIBs built on top of it (for Advantech's industrial switches, gateways, or I/O modules) would expose hardware/software status such as uptime and port state. It serves as the dependency root that all other Advantech-specific MIBs build upon. It is used across Advantech's industrial automation device families deployed in factory and IoT edge environments. Engineers can download the ADVANTECH-COMMON-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADVANTECH-COMMON-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Advantech industrial automation device

Monitoring Examples

The sample_objects (advantech, atSystem, atMgmt, atPciConfig) are all top-level OID branch identifiers rather than runtime data objects, confirming this is a common/root MIB defining organizational structure, not one that itself carries pollable status or performance data. Actual monitoring would occur through product-specific Advantech MIBs registered underneath these branches.
