Category: ATM, Telephony and VoIP, Vendor: Cisco Devices

Description: Manages Cisco ATM-based voice dial control, including call routing and connection statistics over ATM.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB?

CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB is a Cisco MIB that enhances the IETF Dial Control MIB (RFC 2128) to manage voice-over-ATM dial control on Cisco voice gateway/router platforms. It exposes call-detail data: historical and active call records including VPI/VCI, called number, session protocol/target, subchannel ID, and DTMF relay method. Its monitoring role covers software/service status -- administrators use the call history and active-call tables to verify call setup/teardown behavior, DTMF signaling correctness, and connection health over ATM voice trunks, useful for diagnosing voice quality or call-completion issues. It explicitly builds on and enhances the IETF Dial Control MIB (RFC 2128), adding ATM-specific call detail fields. It is deployed on Cisco voice gateways carrying voice-over-ATM traffic in legacy carrier or enterprise networks. Engineers can download the CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Cisco voice gateway with ATM interfaces

Monitoring Examples

An admin troubleshooting failed calls would query cvAtmCallHistoryTable for cvAtmCallHistoryCalledNumber, cvAtmCallHistoryVpi/Vci, and cvAtmCallHistorySessionProtocol to reconstruct exactly which ATM circuit and protocol a recent call used. cvAtmCallHistoryDtmfRelay would be checked when a customer reports failed touch-tone menu navigation, to confirm the correct DTMF relay method was negotiated. cvAtmCallActive, the active-call counterpart table, would be polled in real time to see current in-progress calls and their connection IDs.

What Can Be Monitored

  • ATM call history records (VPI/VCI, called number)
  • active voice call sessions
  • session protocol and target
  • DTMF relay method
  • call connection/subchannel identifiers
