cvAtmPeerCfgInBandSignaling

Module: CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB

OID (symbolic): CISCO-VOICE-ATM-DIAL-CONTROL-MIB::cvAtmPeerCfgInBandSignaling

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.9.10.35.1.3.1.1.10

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: CvcInBandSignaling

Access: read-write

Description: This object specifies the type of in-band signaling used between the two end points of the call and is used by the router to determine how to interpret the ABCD signaling bits sent as part of the voice payload data.

What is cvAtmPeerCfgInBandSignaling?

This is a read-write setting that tells the router which in-band signaling scheme the two ends of an ATM call are using, so it knows how to interpret the ABCD signaling bits embedded in the voice payload. An admin configures this to match the signaling convention used by the connected telephony equipment, since misinterpreting these bits can break call supervision such as detecting on-hook/off-hook events. For example, if a PBX uses a particular ABCD bit convention for hook-flash detection, the admin sets this object accordingly so the gateway correctly reads those signals.
