What Is CISCO-GGSN-MIB?
CISCO-GGSN-MIB is a Cisco Systems proprietary MIB managing GGSN (Gateway GPRS Support Node) devices, the mobile-core network element that provides interworking between a GPRS/UMTS packet-switched radio network and external IP networks such as the Internet. Its objects count GTP signaling messages sent/received/unexpected, GTP-U data PDUs (G-PDUs) and octets sent/received (with high-capacity 64-bit counters for high-throughput GGSNs), PDP context activation outcomes (created, deleted, network-initiated, rejected for out-of-resource/version-mismatch/malformed-message/missing-or-incorrect-IE reasons), PPP-regeneration PDP counts, and TFT/packet-filter semantic and syntactic error counts. As a performance/protocol-status MIB it lets a mobile operator watch PDP context creation/rejection rates and GTP error counts as leading indicators of GGSN capacity or signaling problems affecting subscriber data sessions.
