Category: Fibre Channel and Storage

Description: Manages ADIC tape library systems including robot arm status, drive inventory, slot utilization, and media management objects.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is ADIC-MANAGEMENT-MIB?

ADIC-MANAGEMENT-MIB is a vendor-specific MIB from Advanced Digital Information Corporation (ADIC) that models the Management Control Blade (MCB) of ADIC enterprise tape library systems, covering everything from chassis networking to robotics and drive health. It exposes globalStatusTable (role, operational status, NTP/time-server configuration), systemManagerTable and softwareInstallationTable (firmware/component install state and versions for the MCB, CMB, RCU, FCB, and AMC), and persistentDataTable, alongside physicalLibrary/logicalLibrary subtrees that track robot arm, drive, slot, and media-domain state and a ras (RAS) subtree of ticket, report, and FRU status tables with AdicStatusGroupState severities. This makes it a broad operational-health and configuration MIB for the library's control plane, useful for confirming firmware install success, tracking open RAS tickets, and correlating trap-driven events (e.g. drive firmware update, physical library configuration change) with library subsystem state. It depends on ADIC-INTELLIGENT-STORAGE-MIB for shared type assignments (AdicEnable, AdicComponentType, RowStatus, etc.) and is deployed on ADIC tape library controllers in enterprise backup environments. Administrators can download the ADIC-MANAGEMENT-MIB file to load it into their MIB browser and monitor library health end to end.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ADIC-MANAGEMENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • ADIC tape library systems (Scalar-series enterprise tape libraries with MCB/CMB/RCU controllers)

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls softwareInstallationTable's installProcessStatus and currentFirmwareVersion objects after a firmware push to a drive brick, and checks the ras subtree's FRU status table for any AdicStatusGroupState of failed or degraded; a stuck installProcessStatus alongside a degraded robotics status group would indicate a failed firmware update affecting the robot arm subsystem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • robot arm and drive inventory status
  • slot/media-domain utilization
  • firmware/software installation status
  • RAS ticket and FRU status severity
  • global system/network configuration state
