Category: IP and Core Protocols, Vendor: ACC/Ericsson
Description: Manages Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) tunnel and session configuration on ACC/Ericsson routers for DSL and dial-access aggregation deployments.
Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
What Is ACC-L2TP?
ACC-L2TP is a vendor-specific SNMP module for ACC/Ericsson access routers used to manage Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) tunnels and sessions, commonly deployed in DSL and dial-up access aggregation. It exposes configuration and status data about tunnel endpoints and active L2TP sessions rather than raw hardware sensors. In monitoring terms it is used mainly to confirm the software/protocol state of tunnels is up and sessions are established, which is the functional equivalent of a service/process health check for this device's core access function. It complements the base IP and PPP-related MIBs used on the same router rather than standing alone. It is deployed at network access aggregation points where subscriber DSL or dial connections are tunneled back to a service provider's network. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the ACC-L2TP file directly to load it into their MIB browser.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in ACC-L2TP. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
Supported Devices
- ACC/Ericsson access router
Monitoring Examples
No object names were provided in the extracted sample, so specific table or scalar names cannot be cited with confidence. In practice, a network operator would poll this MIB's tunnel and session status objects to confirm active L2TP tunnel counts match expected subscriber load and to detect tunnels that have dropped unexpectedly. Because no sample_objects were supplied, further technical detail should be verified against the actual MIB file.
What Can Be Monitored
- L2TP tunnel status
- L2TP session count
- tunnel endpoint configuration
- session establishment state

Disabling this parameter causes all AVPs to be sent without encryption; this might be necessary when tunneling to a peer that does not support attribute hiding. If this command is entered without specifying a setting, attribute hiding returns to its default setting. |
| INT accL2tpTunnelConfigCallConfirm | 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.71.1.2.1.16 | INTEGER | read-write | Configures the Call Confirm operation on L2TP LAC. When enabled it causes the LAC to verify that the LNS will proceed with a particular call. If the LNS is not able to proceed with the call because of missing information in the call setup message or resource limitations, the LNS rejects the call. This, in turn, causes the LAC to disconnect the remote user. If the LAC is configured to perform called number tunneling, or the called number authorization mode is 'VPSM,' the incoming call will not be answered until the LAC has confirmed the call with the LNS. Enabling this option can lessen needless call charges. The LAC confirms the call with the LNS when the LAC sends an initial session setup message, including called and calling number information, to the LNS. |

| IP accL2tpUdpSrcIpAddress | 1.3.6.1.4.1.5.1.1.71.2.1.1.4 | IpAddress | read-write | configures the L2TP UDP transport driver to assign the given address to all L2TP packets trans mitted. Configuring a fixed interface by assigning an IP address to all L2TP packets is done to improve L2TP performance; however, limiting this value to a single interface may cause the address to become unreachable if the network goes down. |
