What Is WWP-LEOS-TWAMP-MIB?

WWP-LEOS-TWAMP-MIB is a World Wide Packets (Ciena) vendor MIB for the LEOS platform implementing the Two-Way Active Measurement Protocol, used to actively measure network delay, jitter, and packet loss between two TWAMP-capable endpoints. It exposes configuration objects for TWAMP session setup (control-client/session-reflector addressing, test packet parameters) and result objects reporting round-trip delay, jitter, and loss statistics. Its monitoring focus is network performance rather than hardware health: an operator uses TWAMP results to validate SLA compliance and detect a degrading path (rising latency/jitter/loss) before it causes service-affecting problems. It is a vendor implementation of the IETF TWAMP standard (RFC 5357), so its session model closely follows that standard's control/test protocol structure. It is typically deployed on Ciena/WWP LEOS switches at network edges where carriers need to prove and continuously verify SLA performance metrics to customers. Engineers can download the WWP-LEOS-TWAMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in WWP-LEOS-TWAMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

What Can Be Monitored

  • TWAMP session configuration
  • round-trip delay
  • jitter statistics
  • packet loss statistics

Supported Devices

  • Ciena/WWP LEOS-based Ethernet switches
  • metro Ethernet edge devices

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would configure a TWAMP test session between two LEOS chassis and then poll the session results objects for round-trip delay and jitter statistics; a sudden jump in reported delay or packet loss for a given session would reveal congestion or a degraded path segment between the two measurement endpoints. No sample objects were listed in the source excerpt, so specific table/object names are inferred from standard TWAMP session/result concepts rather than taken verbatim from the MIB.
