Category: Network Management Infrastructure, Nokia SR OS / Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR

Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR event log configuration, destinations, and filter policies.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-LOG-MIB?

TIMETRA-LOG-MIB is part of Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent's TIMETRA enterprise MIB family, managing the SROS event-logging subsystem's destinations, filters, and configuration on 7x50 series routers. It exposes tmnxLogFileIdTable for log file destinations, tmnxLogFilterTable for filter policies and default actions, and data-loss tracking objects for the logging pipeline itself. Each TIMETRA-LOG-MIB OID under tmnxLogFileIdTable and tmnxLogFilterTable is scoped to the SROS logging subsystem rather than to system-wide event handling. It is used to monitor software health of the router's logging/accounting subsystem: tmnxLogApDataLossCount and tmnxLogApLastDataLossTimeStamp reveal when the log pipeline has dropped events under load, a strong indicator of internal resource pressure or misconfiguration that would otherwise go unnoticed. It complements general syslog-style logging concepts and works alongside other TIMETRA MIBs (such as TIMETRA-CLEAR-MIB) that reference log/alarm state. It is deployed on Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent SROS routers as the central mechanism NOC teams use to configure and audit event logging for troubleshooting and compliance.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-LOG-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7x50 SR-series SR OS routers, entire product line (event-logging destination/filter/data-loss status)

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll tmnxLogApDataLossCount periodically and alert if it increases, since that indicates the router's log pipeline is dropping events — potentially masking important fault information — and would check tmnxLogApLastDataLossTimeStamp to correlate the loss with a specific incident. tmnxLogFilterTable entries would be reviewed via tmnxLogFilterDefaultAction to confirm important event classes aren't being silently dropped by an overly broad filter. tmnxLogFileIdTable would be checked to verify logs are actually being written to the intended destination file.

What Can Be Monitored

  • max number of configured logs
  • log file destination configuration
  • log data-loss event count and timestamp
  • log filter default action
  • log filter description/status
