Category: Network Management Infrastructure, Nokia Carrier Ethernet

Description: Defines Nokia RMD textual conventions used across RMD MIB modules.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TN-RMD-TC-MIB?

TN-RMD-TC-MIB is a Nokia/Tellabs support module that defines shared textual conventions (custom SNMP data types) used across the family of TN-RMD-* MIBs governing Remote Managed Devices in transport/access networks. It does not itself expose any runtime management objects, tables, or notifications; instead it standardizes data types so that other RMD MIBs can reference consistent definitions. As a pure type-definition module it has no direct role in exposing hardware or software status - no uptime, temperature, CPU, or fault counters - since none of its own data is instantiated on a device; monitoring value comes entirely from sibling MIBs (e.g. TN-RMD-SYSTEM-MIB) that import these conventions. It is a dependency module, imported by other TN-RMD MIBs, and does not stand alone in any monitoring session. It is deployed as an ancillary compilation unit wherever Nokia/Tellabs RMD MIBs are loaded into an NMS or SNMP toolkit. Engineers can download the TN-RMD-TC-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TN-RMD-TC-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • support/type-definition module within the Nokia/Tellabs RMD MIB family, not tied to a specific monitorable device by itself

Monitoring Examples

This module contains no runtime objects, tables, or notifications of its own (sample_objects is empty), so there is no monitoring scenario to describe; it exists solely to define textual conventions consumed by other TN-RMD-* MIBs such as TN-RMD-SYSTEM-MIB.
