Description: Manages Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR alarm definitions, severity, and notification policy.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB?

TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB is a Nokia/Alcatel-Lucent enterprise MIB, an extension of the standardized ALARM-MIB (RFC 3877), used to manage and provision alarm-management components on the Alcatel-Lucent 7750 SR family of SROS routers. It falls into the fault-management category, exposing objects for alarm administrative state, alarm configuration (including timestamp handling), and notification definitions for the router's alarm subsystem. Its monitoring emphasis is squarely on device software/hardware fault status: it is the mechanism by which the router surfaces active alarms and lets an operator confirm the alarm-management feature itself (tmnxAlarmAdminState) is enabled and correctly configured to catch conditions like hardware faults, protocol failures, or resource exhaustion elsewhere in the system. It explicitly builds on and extends RFC 3877's ALARM-MIB, so its object model and semantics inherit from that IETF standard. It is typically deployed on Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia 7750 SR routers in carrier and large-enterprise core/edge networks where centralized alarm management and notification are required. Network engineers evaluating or troubleshooting this functionality can download the TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in TIMETRA-ALARM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Alcatel-Lucent/Nokia 7750 SR router (SROS)

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll tmnxAlarmAdminState to confirm the alarm-management subsystem is administratively enabled, and check tmnxAlarmConfigurations/tmnxAlarmConfigTimeStamps to verify alarm timestamping and configuration are set as expected. If tmnxAlarmNotifications indicate an unexpected volume of alarm notifications being generated, that would reveal an underlying hardware or protocol fault elsewhere on the 7750 SR that the alarm subsystem is correctly surfacing to the NMS.

What Can Be Monitored

  • alarm administrative state
  • alarm configuration/timestamp settings
  • alarm notification activity
  • overall device fault/alarm status
