Category: Timing and Synchronization

Description: Manages Symmetricom E1/T1 interface configuration, framing, line coding, and signal quality.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SYMME1T1?

SYMME1T1 is Symmetricom's common MIB for configuring and monitoring E1/T1 telecom interface ports across its product line, organized under the symmPhysicalSignal node with separate input and output sub-nodes, each containing a status table and a configuration table. Per its description, it covers framing, line coding, and signal quality parameters for E1/T1 lines, which are the standard building blocks of telecom trunk circuits. Even though no sample leaf objects are available in the source, an E1/T1 MIB of this kind is fundamentally used to monitor the hardware/line status of telecom interfaces - loss of signal, alarm indication signal, line coding errors, and framing synchronization - which are critical fault indicators for trunk circuits. It aligns conceptually with the IETF DS1/E1 MIB model, though implemented as Symmetricom's own common MIB. It is typically deployed in Symmetricom timing/synchronization and telecom transport equipment where E1/T1 ports carry trunk traffic and need line-quality and alarm monitoring. Engineers can download the SYMME1T1 file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SYMME1T1. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Symmetricom E1/T1 telecom interface equipment

Monitoring Examples

Because sample_objects is empty in the source for this module, no concrete object or table names can be confirmed; a realistic scenario would describe polling per-port E1/T1 status and configuration tables (e.g., framing mode, line code, and alarm/signal-quality state) under the input and output nodes, but specific object names cannot be verified from the available data.

What Can Be Monitored

  • E1/T1 line framing status
  • line coding configuration
  • signal quality/alarm status
