Description: MIB for SysKonnect SnapSwitch 6020 FDDI switching hardware covering system configuration and FDDI port state

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is SNAP-SWITCH-MIB?

SNAP-SWITCH-MIB is a vendor MIB from SysKonnect for the SnapSwitch 6020 FDDI switching hardware, part of the SK602x product family. It exposes system-level configuration such as serial number, TFTP boot image/address settings, power-up counter, gateway address, and broadcast cutoff rate, plus a port table describing per-port FDDI operational and duplex status. This MIB is used to monitor both hardware and operational status: administrators can check device identity/firmware boot parameters, track the power-up (reboot) count as an uptime/stability indicator, and watch per-port link and duplex state along with forwarded frame counters for traffic health. It is a standalone vendor MIB with no significant dependency on other MIBs beyond standard SNMP/RFC1213-style interface concepts implied by its port table. Typical deployment is in legacy FDDI backbone networks where SnapSwitch 6020 units provided switched FDDI connectivity between servers and the network core, a setting where SNAP-SWITCH-MIB SNMP monitoring gave administrators visibility into port and power-up stability.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in SNAP-SWITCH-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • SysKonnect SnapSwitch 6020 FDDI switch

Monitoring Examples

An operator would poll sk602xPortTable/sk602xPortEntry to check sk602xPortStatus and sk602xPortDuplexStatus for each port, confirming FDDI ports remain up and in the expected duplex mode. A climbing sk602xSysPowerupCount would indicate the switch has rebooted unexpectedly, suggesting a power or firmware stability issue. Tracking sk602xPortForwardedFrames over time helps spot abnormal traffic drops or spikes on a given port that might indicate a cabling or ring problem.

What Can Be Monitored

  • port link/duplex status
  • forwarded frame counts
  • system power-up (reboot) count
  • TFTP boot configuration
  • broadcast cutoff rate
