Category: Wireless and Radio

Description: Manages microwave radio bridge link configuration, transmit power, modulation, and received signal level monitoring.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RADIO-BRIDGE-MIB?

This is a proprietary MIB for a microwave radio bridge link product, managing RF link configuration (transmit power, modulation) and exposing system-level environmental and software-version data for the radio unit. Its data spans environmental/hardware health (supply voltage, temperature), software/firmware bank information, and system uptime/authentication configuration, alongside the RF subsystem itself. It is directly used to monitor the hardware and software status of the radio unit — rbSysVoltage and rbSysTemperature reveal power-supply and thermal health, rbSwBank1Version/rbSwBank2Version together with rbSwBank1Running/rbSwBank2Running show which firmware image is active versus standby (and the scheduled-to-run-next-reset objects show what will run after a reboot), and rbSystemUpAbsoluteTime tracks how long the unit has been running, together forming a complete hardware/software health picture for a remote radio site. As a vendor-specific radio MIB it likely coexists with (rather than formally extends) standard IF-MIB-style objects, since it defines its own RF and system branches (radioBridgeSystem, radioBridgeRf) independently. It is deployed on point-to-point microwave radio bridge links used for wireless backhaul in telecom, utility, or enterprise network extensions where the radio equipment sits at remote, often unmanned, tower sites. Engineers can download the RADIO-BRIDGE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RADIO-BRIDGE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • microwave radio bridge link unit

Monitoring Examples

An operator polls rbSysVoltage and rbSysTemperature on a schedule to catch a failing power supply or overheating radio unit at a remote tower site before it causes an outage, and checks rbSwBank1Version/rbSwBank2Version against rbSwBank1Running/rbSwBank2Running to confirm which firmware bank is actually active. rbSystemUpAbsoluteTime is checked after a maintenance window to confirm the unit rebooted as expected, and an unexpected drop in received signal level (tracked under radioBridgeRf) alongside rbSysTemperature spiking would point to a hardware or environmental fault on the link.

What Can Be Monitored

  • supply voltage
  • unit temperature
  • active/standby firmware bank version
  • system uptime
  • RF signal/transmit power parameters
