Category: Wireless and Radio

Description: Manages L2TP tunnel configuration, session statistics, and peer connectivity for Ruckus devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RUCKUS-L2TP-MIB?

RUCKUS-L2TP-MIB manages Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) configuration and connectivity status on Ruckus wireless networking devices, typically used to tunnel subscriber or guest traffic back to a central gateway. It exposes data on tunnel service enable/status, connection status to the L2TP server, server IP and shared secret configuration, per-tunnel user credentials, and the tunnel interface's IP/netmask/gateway settings. This is a software/service status MIB: it lets an admin verify whether the L2TP tunneling service is enabled and, critically, whether the tunnel connection to the remote server is currently up or down, directly reflecting the health of the wireless-to-wired backhaul path. It relies on standard IP addressing conventions for the server and tunnel interface configuration. It is deployed in Ruckus-based wireless access deployments (e.g. hotspot or campus Wi-Fi) where L2TP tunnels carry client traffic to a centralized network. Engineers can download the RUCKUS-L2TP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-L2TP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ruckus wireless access points/controllers

Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll ruckusL2TPServiceStatus to confirm the L2TP feature is enabled and ruckusL2TPConnectionStatus to see whether the tunnel to ruckusL2TPServerIP is currently established. If ruckusL2TPConnectionStatus shows down while ruckusL2TPServiceStatus is enabled, that reveals a connectivity or authentication failure between the Ruckus device and its L2TP server, worth cross-checking against ruckusL2TPUserName credentials. The ruckusL2TPIfIPAddr/ruckusL2TPIfNetMask/ruckusL2TPIfGateway objects confirm the tunnel interface's own IP configuration is correct.

What Can Be Monitored

  • L2TP service enable status
  • L2TP tunnel connection status
  • L2TP server IP reachability
  • tunnel interface IP configuration
  • tunnel authentication username
