Description: Defines SNMP event notification objects and trap definitions for Ruckus Wireless devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is RUCKUS-EVENT-MIB?

RUCKUS-EVENT-MIB is a Ruckus Wireless (now CommScope) vendor MIB defining SNMP trap/notification objects for asynchronous events generated by Ruckus wireless infrastructure. Rather than polled runtime tables, it defines the payload objects and trap OIDs used when the device sends an event notification, such as client-related events and error conditions. Its monitoring value is fault/event-oriented: it lets an NMS receive and interpret traps carrying information like the MAC address of a client involved in an event and an error OID identifying which setting or object triggered the condition, functioning as the alerting layer for Ruckus WLAN gear rather than a source of continuously polled hardware/software health metrics. It is a companion module to Ruckus's data-bearing MIBs (e.g., RUCKUS-WLAN-MIB, RUCKUS-ZD-AP-MIB), since the events it defines relate to objects and clients managed by those MIBs. It is deployed alongside SNMP trap receivers in enterprise Wi-Fi deployments using Ruckus access points and ZoneDirector/SmartZone controllers, to receive real-time alerts rather than for routine polling. Engineers can download the RUCKUS-EVENT-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in RUCKUS-EVENT-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Ruckus Wireless access point
  • Ruckus WLAN controller (ZoneDirector/SmartZone)

Monitoring Examples

This MIB is primarily notification-oriented: an NMS trap receiver would parse ruckusEventClientMacAddr to identify which wireless client triggered a given event, and ruckusEventSetErrorOID to determine which configuration object or value produced an error condition, both delivered as varbinds within traps defined under ruckusEventTraps. There is limited value in periodic polling of ruckusEventObjects itself; its purpose is to supply context to received trap notifications rather than serve as pollable runtime state.

What Can Be Monitored

  • client MAC address associated with an event
  • error object/OID reported in an event
  • wireless event/trap occurrences
