Category: Network Management

Description: Manages Paradyne stackable device topology, inter-unit links, and stack member role assignment.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is PDN-STACKABLE-MIB?

PDN-STACKABLE-MIB is a Paradyne enterprise MIB for configuring and reporting on stack topology and unit membership in Paradyne stackable access products, where multiple physical units are cabled together and managed as one logical device. It exposes a stacking-method setting, a stack-configuration table describing each unit (external ID, entity-physical index, GUID, and presence), and a command table for moving a unit from one stack position to another. Its monitoring role is hardware inventory/topology health -- confirming every expected unit is present in the stack, correctly identified, and mapped to the right physical entity index, detecting a unit that has been removed, failed, or is misidentified within the stack. It does not declare a formal IETF dependency, though its physical-entity-index object implies alignment with the standard ENTITY-MIB's physical-entity indexing. It is deployed on Paradyne stackable access/DSLAM products where operators manage a group of physically stacked units as a single logical network element. Engineers can download the PDN-STACKABLE-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in PDN-STACKABLE-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Paradyne stackable access equipment/DSLAM

Monitoring Examples

An operator walks pdnStackConfigurationTable/Entry to check pdnUnitPresent for each expected pdnUnitExternalID, immediately spotting a stack member that has dropped out or lost connectivity to the stack. pdnUnitGUID and pdnUnitEntPhysicalIndex let the operator confirm a given stack slot is occupied by the expected physical unit after a hardware swap. The pdnMoveUnitCmdTable/Entry (via pdnMoveUnitSrcNumber) is used to issue a command relocating a unit within the stack, and pdnStackableNotifications would alert on stack membership changes.

What Can Be Monitored

  • stack unit presence
  • unit identity (GUID/external ID)
  • unit-to-physical-entity mapping
  • stack method configuration
