pdnUnitGUID

Module: PDN-STACKABLE-MIB

OID (symbolic): PDN-STACKABLE-MIB::pdnUnitGUID

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.36.1.3.1.4

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: DisplayString

Access: read-only

Description: This object is the representation of the units' Globally Unique Identifier (GUID). The requirement for this identifier is that is something that makes the unit uniquely identifiable. A MAC addresses is an example of something that could be used as a GUID. The particular implementation's Operational Specification should clarify what is used as the implementation's GUID.

What is pdnUnitGUID?

This read-only value is the unit's Globally Unique Identifier, a string uniquely identifying the physical stack member, with a MAC address cited as a typical example, though the exact format depends on the product's implementation. An admin uses this GUID to positively identify which physical unit corresponds to a given External ID entry in the stack configuration table, especially useful when units are swapped or replaced. For example, an admin comparing pdnUnitGUID values before and after a suspected unit swap can confirm whether the physical hardware behind External ID 4 actually changed.

Examples

Walk all instances (SNMPv2c):

snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.36.1.3.1.4
snmpwalk -v2c -c public <target> PDN-STACKABLE-MIB::pdnUnitGUID

Get a specific instance (index 1):

snmpget -v2c -c public <target> 1.3.6.1.4.1.1795.2.24.2.36.1.3.1.4.1
snmpget -v2c -c public <target> PDN-STACKABLE-MIB::pdnUnitGUID.1
