What Is NNCGNI00X1-SMI?
NNCGNI00X1-SMI is a Newbridge Networks (GNI) structural MIB that defines the extended SMI OID registration tree used to organize Newbridge's modular family of MIB modules. Like other SMI/registration modules, it does not itself carry monitoring data; it establishes the naming hierarchy under which Newbridge's various product-specific MIBs (covering interfaces, alarms, and configuration on Newbridge/GNI network equipment) are rooted. Any NNCGNI00X1-SMI SNMP tooling in practice only surfaces OID placement, not live status values, since the module itself carries no runtime objects. Its practical role in monitoring is therefore indirect—supporting discovery and organization of hardware/software status objects defined by the dependent modules that use its OID space. By definition every Newbridge GNI product MIB built against this tree depends on it for consistent OID placement. It would have been deployed alongside Newbridge Networks' carrier-grade multiservice switching and access equipment from the 1990s/2000s era, much of which was later absorbed into Alcatel's portfolio.
