What Is Nortel-Magellan-Passport-TrunksMIB?

Nortel-Magellan-Passport-TrunksMIB is a Nortel module for the Magellan Passport multiservice WAN switch, covering configuration and status of trunk interfaces used to interconnect Passport nodes over ATM/Frame Relay/leased-line facilities. It exposes trunk provisioning and row-status data, per-trunk administrative status, component naming/storage-type information, and trunk performance statistics. Its monitoring role is centered on hardware/software status of the trunk-level WAN links — whether a trunk is provisioned and active, administratively up or down, and how it is performing — which is essential for spotting a failed or misconfigured trunk between switch nodes. Monitoring Examples

An admin would poll trkIfEntryTable, keyed by trkIfIndex, to check trkIfAdminStatus and confirm a trunk is administratively up, and check trkRowStatusTable/trkRowStatus to see whether a trunk row is active or still in provisioning. Persistently poor values in trkPorsStats for a given trkComponentName would reveal a congested or error-prone trunk between Passport nodes, pointing to a physical-layer or capacity problem.
