Module: Nortel-Magellan-Passport-TrunksMIB

OID (symbolic): Nortel-Magellan-Passport-TrunksMIB::trkDiscardTrunkPktFromIf

OID (numeric): 1.3.6.1.4.1.562.2.4.1.60.107.1.6

Node type: OBJECT-TYPE

Type: Counter32

Access: read-only

Description: This attribute counts the number of internal trunk protocol packets (including those on the interrupting queue) received from the remote module that have been discarded. This counter wraps around to zero when the maximum value is exceeded. The three main reasons that cause this counter to increase are: (1) the two Trunks are not synchronized, (2) the remote trunk protocol is not the same version as the local protocol, and (3) the remote trunk has restaged.

What is trkDiscardTrunkPktFromIf?

This counter tracks internal trunk protocol packets (including those on the interrupting queue) received from the remote and discarded, typically because the two Trunks are out of sync, running different protocol versions, or the remote trunk has just restaged. An admin uses a rising count here to diagnose trunk-protocol-level instability rather than plain data-plane congestion.
