What Is NSCRTV-ROOT?
NSCRTV-ROOT is the enterprise root MIB for NSCRTV cable/HFC television plant equipment, defining both the top-level OID hierarchy (via its nscrtvHFCemsTree branch) and shared table conventions used across the NSCRTV element-management MIB family. Beyond the root registration, it defines generic analog and discrete property tables used to model monitored points throughout HFC plant equipment: each analog point carries high-high/high/low/low-low alarm thresholds and a deadband, while discrete points model binary status. This gives it a strong monitoring role: it is the common framework for reporting environmental and equipment alarms, such as out-of-range voltage, temperature, or RF-level readings, across the HFC network, flagging faults when a value crosses its configured alarm thresholds. As a root/shared-conventions MIB, other NSCRTV product-specific MIBs branching from nscrtvRoot depend on it for common alarm and property modeling, and since it is a legacy module, an operator maintaining older HFC gear often needs to track down an NSCRTV-ROOT download from an archived vendor MIB repository to compile its dependent MIBs. It is deployed by cable operators managing distributed HFC plant equipment such as amplifiers, power supplies, and nodes via an element management system (EMS).
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in NSCRTV-ROOT. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- analog point values and alarm thresholds (HIHI/HI/LO/LOLO)
- alarm deadband configuration
- discrete point status
- equipment alarm state
Supported Devices
- HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) cable plant equipment
- cable TV element management system (EMS) node
Monitoring Examples
A management system polls analogPropertyTable entries, via propertyIdent and analogParameterOID, to read a live analog value and compares it against analogAlarmHIHI/analogAlarmHI/analogAlarmLO/analogAlarmLOLO thresholds with the configured analogAlarmDeadband; a plant power-supply voltage reading crossing analogAlarmLO would raise an alarm state in analogAlarmState, flagging a failing HFC power supply before it causes an outage.

RFC description
Root object identifier defining SNMP management structure for Chinese broadcasting and telecommunications equipment including HFC, EPON, and optical systems.
Start monitoring HFC (Hybrid Fiber Coax) cable plant equipment / EMS node (NSCRTV, enterprise OID root) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.
