What Is ME1200-MSTP-MIB?

This is a Cisco ME1200 Metro Ethernet access switch MIB implementing the IEEE 802.1Q-2005 Multiple Spanning Tree Protocol (MSTP), in the Ethernet Layer 2 loop-prevention technology area. It exposes bridge-wide MSTP parameters such as max age, hello time, forward delay, and force version, along with per multiple-spanning-tree-instance (MSTI) parameters. Monitoring here centers on spanning-tree software status: bridge timer values reveal the protocol's convergence tuning, BPDU filtering/guard flags show whether port-protection features are active, and per-MSTI table entries let an operator confirm each spanning-tree instance's configuration matches the intended VLAN-to-instance mapping. It is a private/vendor implementation of the standard IEEE 802.1Q-2005 MSTP MIB. It is deployed on Cisco ME1200 metro Ethernet access switches participating in a multi-instance spanning-tree topology to prevent Layer 2 loops across VLANs. Engineers can download the ME1200-MSTP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

An operator would poll me1200MstpMstiParamTable (keyed by me1200MstpMstiParamInstance) to confirm each configured MST instance's parameters, and check me1200MstpBridgeParamsBpduGuard/BpduFiltering to verify port-protection features are enabled on edge ports. A mismatch in me1200MstpBridgeParamsBridgeMaxAge, BridgeHelloTime, or BridgeForwardDelay compared to neighboring switches would explain unexpected spanning-tree recalculations.
