What Is CISCOME1200-MIB?
CISCOME1200-MIB is the umbrella/registration module for Cisco's ME 1200 Metro Ethernet Access Switch product line, a compact carrier-Ethernet demarcation device deployed at the service-provider network edge. Rather than defining monitoring objects directly, it establishes the OID namespace under which the ME1200's interface, configuration, and service-provisioning sub-MIBs are organized and registered; anyone performing a CISCOME1200-MIB download should expect only these OID registration nodes, since the module intentionally carries no leaf objects of its own. Actual hardware and software status data for the switch, such as interface link state, uptime, and Ethernet service health, is exposed through those subordinate MIBs rather than in this module itself. As a structural module it depends on and coordinates with standard MIBs like IF-MIB and ENTITY-MIB conventions that the ME1200's real object modules build upon. It is used in carrier and metro Ethernet access deployments wherever ME1200 switches provide business Ethernet or backhaul demarcation.
IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CISCOME1200-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.
What Can Be Monitored
- product/OID registration for ME1200 sub-MIBs
- module organization for interface and service MIBs
Supported Devices
- Cisco ME 1200 Metro Ethernet Access Switch
Monitoring Examples
Because CISCOME1200-MIB contains no leaf objects of its own, an NMS uses it primarily to recognize the ME1200 product family via its OID registration and to locate the correct sub-MIBs to load for that device. Actual polling for interface status, alarms, or service provisioning on an ME1200 switch is performed against the specific sub-modules registered beneath this umbrella tree. This pattern is common for Cisco product-family MIBs that separate structural registration from functional object definitions.
