Description: Huawei HGMP (Huawei Group Management Protocol) MIB for managing stacked switch groups, cluster topology, and group member configuration.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB?

HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB implements Huawei's Group Management Protocol suite, covering switch clustering, physical stacking, Neighbor Discovery Protocol (NDP), and Network Topology Discovery Protocol (NTDP). It exposes membership, role, and topology data for groups of switches managed as a single logical unit, placing it in the configuration and device-discovery/status category. Monitoring it is about the software/control-plane health of a switch group: confirming each cluster or stack member's join status and role, and that neighbor and topology discovery tables reflect all expected devices, so a member that has silently dropped out can be caught quickly. It is a proprietary Huawei protocol suite with no direct dependency on IETF standards, conceptually similar in purpose to vendor discovery protocols like CDP. It is deployed on stackable or clusterable Huawei switches in campus and enterprise network deployments. Engineers can download the HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in HUAWEI-HGMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Huawei stackable/clusterable switches

Monitoring Examples

An administrator managing a cluster of Huawei switches would poll the cluster/stack member tables for each unit's join status and role and the NDP/NTDP neighbor and topology tables to confirm all expected devices are still discovered, catching a member that has dropped out of the stack or cluster.

What Can Be Monitored

  • cluster member status/role
  • stack member health
  • neighbor discovery (NDP) table
  • network topology (NTDP) table
