Organization: Infortrend Technology, Inc.

Last Updated: 2004-07-30

Category: Hardware Inventory

Description: Monitors and manages Infortrend RAID storage controller status and performance.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is IFT-SNMP-MIB?

IFT-SNMP-MIB is Infortrend's proprietary MIB module for its EonStor/ESDS RAID storage controller product line, exposing hardware inventory, firmware, and system health information for external-RAID and storage subsystems. It surfaces data such as controller CPU type, cache size, memory type, firmware and bootloader (boot ROM) version numbers, serial number, controller name/configuration, and an event log. It is explicitly used for hardware and software status monitoring, tracking firmware/bootloader version numbers for update compliance, controller configuration mode, and the event log for fault/error conditions reported by the RAID controller. There is no strong stated dependency on other standard MIBs; it is a fully self-contained vendor private tree. It is typically deployed in SAN/NAS environments where Infortrend RAID storage arrays are polled by storage management or monitoring systems for capacity, health, and firmware compliance using the IFT-SNMP-MIB MIB.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in IFT-SNMP-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Infortrend EonStor/ESDS RAID storage controllers

Monitoring Examples

An administrator polling sysInformation and ctlrConfiguration can retrieve the controller's cpuType, cacheSize, and memoryType to confirm the hardware configuration matches expectations after a controller swap. Checking fwMajorVersion/fwMinorVersion/fwEngineerVersion against a known-good baseline flags controllers running outdated or mismatched firmware. Polling eventLog surfaces logged fault conditions (e.g., disk failures or cache battery issues) that require attention, and serialNum/ctlrName identify which physical unit reported them.

What Can Be Monitored
