Category: Hardware Inventory

Description: Monitors Intel LAN Desk Client Manager workstation hardware health and inventory.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is LDCM-MIB?

LDCM-MIB is Intel's proprietary MIB for LANDesk Client Manager (LDCM), a workstation/desktop hardware management agent bundled with Intel-based PCs and servers. It exposes system inventory data such as computer name, agent version, and management HTTP port, alongside a PC health event subtree (pcHealth) that reports hardware health events with timestamps, type, symptom, and severity classifications. Its core purpose is monitoring hardware and software status of end-user or server workstations: reported events can flag issues like fan failure, temperature warnings, voltage anomalies, or chassis intrusion, each tagged with an eventSeverity so an NMS can prioritize alerts. It depends on Intel's broader LANDesk/lanDesk enterprise MIB tree and typically complements the Intel LAN Desk Configuration Management Interface (DMI-to-SNMP) mapping conventions of that era. It was deployed in the 1990s-2000s in enterprise IT environments, where LDCM-MIB SNMP monitoring gave central helpdesks visibility into desktop and server hardware health.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in LDCM-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • Intel-based PC/workstation
  • Intel-based server running LANDesk Client Manager

Monitoring Examples

An administrator would poll pcHealth event objects -- eventTime, eventType, eventSymptom, and eventSeverity -- to see if a workstation reported a hardware fault such as an overheating or fan-related event, using severity to decide whether to dispatch a technician. The version and computerName objects let an inventory system confirm which LDCM agent version and hostname reported the event, while httpPort identifies the management web interface endpoint for follow-up.

What Can Be Monitored

  • hardware health event log
  • event severity/symptom classification
  • LDCM agent version
  • system/computer name
  • management HTTP port
