Category: Protocol: ATM, Vendor: Memotec

Description: Manages ATM physical layer interface parameters and cell statistics on CX Memotec devices.

Start monitoring vendor-neutral, standards-based MIB, any SNMPv3-capable network device (SNMP engine identity/boot/clock status) with a free 30-day trial of IPNetwork Monitor. Import MIBs, browse SNMP OIDs, create custom SNMP monitors, configure alerts, and monitor any SNMP-enabled network device from a single console.

What Is CXAtmPhy-MIB?

CXAtmPhy-MIB is a MIB from CX/Memotec for managing the ATM physical layer interface parameters and cell-level statistics on Memotec networking devices. It exposes physical-layer configuration objects such as transmit clocking source, receive loopback mode, frame format, PLCP bypass, cell scrambling/descrambling settings, coset byte configuration, and transmit FIFO buffering depth. Its monitoring value is primarily interface-status oriented: confirming loopback mode and clocking settings helps diagnose why an ATM link isn't passing traffic, and cell scrambling/framing mismatches are a common cause of physical-layer sync failures. It is closely related to the standard IETF ATM-MIB physical-layer conventions, adapted here for Memotec-specific hardware. It is deployed on Memotec ATM access/gateway devices used in legacy telecom and enterprise WAN environments. Engineers can download the CXAtmPhy-MIB file directly to load it into their MIB browser.

IPNetwork Monitor allows you to monitor SNMP objects defined in CXAtmPhy-MIB. Use the built-in SNMP Monitoring Browser to explore available variables, view their current values and descriptions, and select the objects you want to monitor. You can then create SNMP monitors, configure thresholds, and receive alerts when monitored values change.

Supported Devices

  • CX Memotec ATM access/gateway device

Monitoring Examples

An engineer troubleshooting a down ATM circuit would check atmPhyInterfaceConfTable/atmPhyInterfaceConfEntry for atmPhyConfRxLoopback being unexpectedly enabled, which would explain a link that appears up locally but passes no traffic. Mismatched atmPhyConfFrameFormat or atmPhyConfCellScrambling/atmPhyConfCellDescrambling settings between the two ends of a link are checked to diagnose cell delineation errors. atmPhyConfTxFifoDepth can be reviewed when troubleshooting cell buffering/underrun issues on a heavily loaded ATM interface.

What Can Be Monitored

  • physical layer clocking source
  • loopback mode
  • frame format/PLCP bypass
  • cell scrambling/descrambling configuration
